Details of the project
A leading institution in emergency and trauma care

Barzilai Medical Center, established in 1961 and located in Ashkelon, Israel, is a hospital serving a population of over 500,000 people, including a significant number of Ethiopian and Russian immigrants.

Due to its proximity to the Gaza Strip, Barzilai has frequently been on the front lines during regional conflicts, treating numerous casualties under challenging conditions. As a key player in emergency and trauma care, the hospital operates under high-stress conditions, which significantly impact the mental well-being of its staff.

A partnership for burnout prevention

The events of October 7, 2023, further intensified the already high levels of stress and emotional exhaustion among Barzilai’s healthcare teams. Medical personnel, management, and support teams have faced relentless pressure, requiring effective strategies to cope with extreme stress.

To address this urgent need, Barzilai Medical Center is partnering with EmotionAid® to implement an evidence-based program designed to improve stress regulation and resilience among its staff.

Empowering healthcare teams

Starting in November 2024, during the hospital’s employee engagement day, 25 medical staff, management, and support team members will participate in the study.

They will receive specialized training in the EmotionAid® protocol, focusing on emotional regulation, trauma management, and burnout prevention.

Participants will undergo structured sessions that equip them with practical self-regulation techniques to navigate high-pressure situations effectively.
