Quality Of Life Questionnaire
Professional quality of life is the quality one feels in relation to their work as a helper. Both the positive and negative aspects of doing your work influence your professional quality of life. People who work helping others may respond to individual, community, national, and even international crises. They may be health care professionals, social service workers, teachers, attorneys, police officers, firefighters, clergy, transportation staff, disaster responders, and others. Understanding the positive and negative aspects of helping those who experience trauma and suffering can improve your ability to help them and your ability to keep your own balance.
After years of field experience, we found the ProQuol questionnaire, and its self assessment version precise and useful. It is especially relevant to the helping professions: teachers, nurses, doctors, first responders etc. Below you will find an explanation about the ProQuol. The way to use it is to distribute it before and after the EmotionAid, and compare the results.
The ProQOL is the most commonly used measure of the negative and positive affects of helping others who experience suffering and trauma. The ProQOL has sub-scales for compassion satisfaction, burnout and compassion fatigue. The measure has been in use since 1995. There have been several revisions. The ProQOL 5 is the current version. We have been provided the permission of the Proqol Organization to use the questionnaire.
